Making Accessible Transport a Right – Not a Privilege

The Wheel-Chair Taxi Association of BC is a non-profit initiative born from decades of experience in the transportation industry through Richmond Taxi. Our mission is to advocate for the expansion of wheelchair-accessible taxi services across British Columbia—especially in communities where these services are currently unavailable or limited.

Every day, individuals with mobility challenges face barriers in accessing safe, reliable, and timely transportation. We believe that accessible taxi services are essential—not optional.

Making Accessible Transport a Right – Not a Privilege

Many areas in British Columbia lack sufficient accessible taxi options. If you or someone you know struggles with mobility and needs reliable transportation, let us know.

Your input helps us gather real demand and present compelling data to city and provincial authorities.

How We Train Our Drivers

Compassion. Safety. Professionalism.

At the Wheel-Chair Taxi Association of BC, we believe that great service starts with exceptional training. Every driver operating a wheelchair-accessible taxi receives specialized instruction to ensure they can assist passengers with care, respect, and confidence.

Our training program includes

Proper wheelchair securement techniques

Safe operation of ramps, lifts, and tie-down systems

Sensitivity training for interacting with individuals with disabilities

Emergency response procedures

Clear communication and customer service skills

Our goal is to make every ride not just accessible, but safe, comfortable, and welcoming because everyone deserves to be treated with dignity.
